Bij brieven van 17 oktober 2007 (Kamerstukken II 2007/2008, 31 258 (R 1837), nr. 1) is de herziene Overeenkomst van 6 november 2003, en de opzegging van de Overeenkomst van 13 december 1968, zoals gewijzigd door het Protocol, in overeenstemming met artikel 2, eerste en tweede lid, en artikel 5, eerste en tweede lid, van de Rijkswet goedkeuring en bekendmaking verdragen overgelegd aan de Eerste en de Tweede Kamer der Staten-Generaal en aan de Staten van Aruba.

De toelichtende nota die de brieven vergezelde, is ondertekend door de Minister van Landbouw, Natuur en Voedselkwaliteit G. VERBURG en de Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken M. J. M. VERHAGEN.

De goedkeuring door de Staten-Generaal is verleend op 1 december 2007.

Verklaringen, voorbehouden en bezwaren

Denemarken, 24 juni 1969

In connection with the deposit of the instrument of ratification by Denmark of the European Convention for the Protection of Animals during International Transport, it is hereby declared, in accordance with Article 50.1 of the Convention, that until further notice, the Convention shall not apply to the Faroe Islands and to Greenland.

Ierland, 14 maart 1975

Pursuant to the agreement between the authorities of Ireland and the authorities of the United Kingdom in accordance with the provisions of the European Convention for the Protection of Animals during International Transport, Article 3 of the said Convention shall not apply to transport to Northern Ireland.

Italië, 29 juli 1976

I have the honour to inform you that, according to the provisions of Article 47, paragraph 1, of the European Convention for the Protection of Animals during International Transport, the competent authority for consulting with the other Contracting Parties on the interpretation and the application of the said Convention, is, as far as Italy is concerned, the Ministry for Health.

Russische Federatie, 13 november 1990

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics declares that the provisions of Article 50 of the European Convention for the Protection of Animals during International Transport, according to which the Parties may extend the Convention to territories for whose international relations they are responsible, should not be used to the detriment of the provisions of Resolution 1514 (XV) on the granting of independence to colonial countries and peoples, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 14 December l960.

Turkije, 19 december 1975

The Government of Turkey, while ratifying the European Convention for the Protection of Animals during International Transport, declares that it does not consider itself bound to carry out the provisions of the said Convention in relation to the Greek Cypriot Administration, which is not constitutionally entitled to represent alone the Republic of Cyprus.

G. INWERKINGTREDING

Voor de Overeenkomst zie Trb. 1980, 148 en Trb. 1986, 187.

De bepalingen van de Overeenkomst zullen ingevolge artikel 51, derde lid, voor Nederland op 8 augustus 2008 buiten werking treden.

Wat betreft het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, blijft de Overeenkomst voor Aruba gelden.

Voor het Aanvullend Protocol zie Trb. 1989, 179.

De bepalingen van het Aanvullend Protocol zullen ingevolge zijn artikel 6, juncto artikel 51, derde lid, van de Overeenkomst voor Nederland op 8 augustus 2008 buiten werking treden.

Wat betreft het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, blijft het Aanvullend Protocol voor Aruba gelden.

Voor de herziene Overeenkomst zie Trb. 2007, 103.

De bepalingen van de herziene Overeenkomst zullen ingevolge artikel 37, vijfde lid, voor het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden op 8 augustus 2008 in werking treden.

Wat betreft het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, zal de herziene Overeenkomst alleen voor Nederland gelden.
