G. INWERKINGTREDING

De Overeenkomst, waarvan de geldigheid op 8 september 2006 zou aflopen, blijft, ingevolge het gestelde in de derde alinea van nota Nr. II en de eerste alinea van nota Nr. III van de in rubriek H hieronder opgenomen notawisseling, van kracht voor een volgende periode van zes maanden tot en met 7 maart 2007.

Het verlengingsverdrag, dat opgenomen is in rubriek H hieronder, is ingevolge het in de voorlaatste alinea van nota Nr. III gestelde in werking getreden op 6 september 2006.

Wat betreft het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, geldt dit verlengingsverdrag alleen voor Nederland.

H. VERLENGING

Bij notawisseling van 12 juli 2006, 1 augustus 2006 en 13 augustus 2006 is een verlengingsverdrag tot stand gekomen tussen het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden en de Staat Qatar waarbij de Overeenkomst van 11 maart 2002, waarvan de geldigheid op 8 september 2006 zou aflopen, in overeenstemming met artikel 15 van de Overeenkomst van 11 maart 2002 met een periode van zes maanden wordt verlengd. De tekst van deze nota’s luidt als volgt:

The Royal Netherlands Embassy presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and, with reference to the Status of Forces Agreement for military personnel and equipment for the forces between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the State of Qatar signed in Doha on 11 March 2002 and extended until September 2006, the Embassy has the honour to propose that the duration of the said Agreement, laid down in its article 15, be extended with another twelve (12)-month period so that the agreement will expire in September 2007.

If this proposal is acceptable to the State of Qatar, the Embassy proposes that this Note and the affirmative reply to it shall together constitute an Agreement between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the State of Qatar, which will be applied provisionally pending Parliamentary approval in the Netherlands from the date of reply of the State of Qatar.

The Royal Netherlands Embassy avails itself of this opportunity torenew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar the assurances of its highest consideration.

Referencing to the Embassy’s memo No 172/2006, dated 12/07/2006, regarding the proposal of the extending the agreement of the individual and the military equipment of the Royal Netherlands in Qatar State (SOFA) for 12 month, so that expire in September 2007.

The Royal Netherlands Embassy in Doha presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, and has the honour to refer to the Ministry’s note nr 5/02864/05/2006 of 1 August 2006, concerning the Status of Forces Agreement for military personnel and equipment for the forces between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the State of Qatar of 11 March 2002, which was extended five times to remain in force until 7 September 2006. The Embassy has the honour to confirm that the duration of said Agreement will be extended with another six (6) month period, so that the Agreement will remain in force until 7 March 2007.

The introductory note, the affirmative reply to it from the side of the Qatari Authorities and this confirmatory note, shall together constitute an agreement between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the State of Qatar, which shall enter into force on the date of receipt of this confirmation by the Authorities in Qatar.
