Op 10 december 1992 en 31 maart 1993 zijn in verband met het uiteenvallen op 1 januari 1993 van Tsjechoslowakije in Slowakije en de Tsjechische Republiek te Praag nota's gewisseld tussen de Regering van de Tsjechoslowaakse Federale Republiek en de Nederlandse Regering, namens de landen van de Benelux, betreffende het van toepassing blijven van de onderhavige overeenkomst tussen de landen van de Benelux en resp. Slowakije en de Tsjechische Republiek. Een onofficiële vertaling in het Engels van de nota van 10 december 1992 luidt aldus:

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic presents its compliments to the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and has the honour to notify that the competent bodies of the two new states – the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic – which will emerge after the division of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic on January 1, 1993, will continue to honour without prejudice commitments concerning visa-free travels to the extent agreed between the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

They expect the Kingdom of the Netherlands to take the same approach – without prejudice to the legal position – to questions of succession in respect of treaties.

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects that the present note will be accepted in the interest of an unequivocal definition of conditions for travels of citizens of both countries in order to prevent undesirable treatment on border crossings on both sides.

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs would greatly appreciate an early confirmation of this note.

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands the assurances of its highest consideration.

De op de onderhavige overeenkomst betrekking hebbende alinea's uit de nota's van 31 maart 1993 aan de Regeringen van Slowakije en de Tsjechische Republiek luiden aldus:

«L'Ambassade du Royaume des Pays-Bas présente au nom des Gouvernements des pays du Benelux ses compliments au Gouvernement de la République de Slovaquie [de la République de Tchéquie] et a l'honneur de communiquer en réponse à la Note du Ministère Fédéral des Affaires Etrangères de la République de Tchécoslovaquie du 10 décembre 1992, réf. C.J. 314.731/92-KO/4, les informations ci-après.

Conformément à la Convention du 11 avril 1960 relative au transfert du contrôle des personnes vers les frontières extérieures du territoire Benelux, les pays du Benelux agissent de concert. C'est dans ce contexte que l'Ambassade communique au nom des Gouvernements des pays du Benelux que ces derniers adoptent le principe que l'Accord de suppression de l'obligation du visa conclu, le 13 décembre 1990, entre la République fédérale de Tchécoslovaquie et les pays du Benelux a continué d'être appliquée dans les relations entre la République de Slovaquie [de la République de Tchéquie] et les pays du Benelux.».
