De Internationale Douaneraad heeft tijdens zijn 93ste en 94ste zitting op 25 juni 1999 overeenkomstig de procedure van artikel 16 van het Verdrag een Aanbeveling aangenomen strekkende tot het aanbrengen van bepaalde wijzigingen in de douane-nomenclatuur zoals vervat in de Bijlage bij het Verdrag.
Ingevolge de procedure van artikel 16, derde lid, van het Verdrag is deze Aanbeveling door alle verdragspartijen aanvaard op 17 januari 2000.

De wijziging behoefde ingevolge artikel 7, onderdeel f, van de Rijkswet goedkeuring en bekendmaking verdragen niet de goedkeuring van de Staten-Generaal.
Bovengenoemde wijziging is ingevolge artikel 16, vierde lid, van het Verdrag op 1 januari 2002 in werking getreden.
Wat het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden betreft, geldt de wijziging voor het gehele Koninkrijk.
